G-Raid makes one of the best rated external hard drives for video editing. After seeing way too many hard drives crash and the loss of valuable video, I try and choose quality over cheap prices. You may be able to find a cheaper hard drive, but chances are it doesn't come with a 3-year warranty like the G-RAID3. Follow the link to Amazon where they have the best prices on the G-RAID. Its a full $50 cheaper than on Apple's website. The only downside is that the fan is known to be a little bit loud, but it works great. Using a drive specially designed for high-intensity operations like video editing and music is the best solution to your editing dilemma. Stick with what is going to work, not what will crash on you after 3 months like my 2tb Maxtor did.
